Croatian currency is the Croatian Kuna (KN).
Nominal values are:
COINS - 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 lipa,
1, 2, 5 kuna.
NOTES - 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 kuna.

1 kuna = 100 lipa.

Currency regulations (same for import and export):
Local currency (Croatian Kuna - HRK) and foreign currencies: no restrictions if arriving from or travelling to another EU Member State .
If arriving directly from or travelling to a country outside the EU: amounts exceeding EUR 10,000.- or more or the equivalent in another currency (incl. banker's draft and cheques of any kind) must be declared.

One Euro is approximately equivalent to HRK 7.60. Money can be easily exchanged at banks and exchange offices, travel agencies, post offices, hotels and airports. Most major currencies are exchangeable EXCEPT Hungarian forints which you can't change in Croatia. Also, bear in mind that the Croatian kuna is not exchangeable outside Croatia.
Credit cards are generally accepted in hotels and restaurants, but be sure to ask before you order. You can also use ATMs to get cash. Many banks have ATMs in front of their buildings. An ATM is also located behind the main entrance of the Rudjer Boskovic Institute.
